The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) brought a wide range of waivers that greatly affected how health care is delivered and billed. Increased ability to offer telehealth, licensure waivers, exceptions to supervision requirements and more were key features of the PHE. Our March 8, 2023, Health Law Webinar discussed a variety of issues to help hospitals and clinics prepare for the anticipated May 11, 2023, end of the PHE. 

On February 23, 2023, Fredrikson’s Immigration Group discussed new developments and trends in immigration and upcoming H-1B lottery season. Presenters Debra Schneider, June Cheng and Georgette Marling discussed status of proposed immigration legislation and regulations, agency processing and adjudication trends, consular reopening and visa processing, and H-1B cap season preparation.

On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, Fredrikson’s H-2 Immigration Service Team hosted its final H-2B webinar of the season. This webinar provided an overview of options for finding and retaining H-2B employees, even for employers who did not make it into the “cap.” They also explained the importance of compliance, and how to retain proper records.

The Health Law Webinar on February 8, 2023 discussed the issues surrounding establishing fees and offering discounts confounds much of the health care marketplace. This session answered many questions and gave a short review of the No Surprises Act and price transparency requirements.

On January 18, 2023, we discussed answers to common questions about how the Medicare’s “incident to” benefits and shared visits rules work, as well as an understanding of how to bill for services involving residents and medical students. While the focus of the webinar was on Medicare rules, we also covered the principles to consider for Medicaid and private payors. 

On Wednesday, January 5, 2023, Fredrikson’s H-2 Immigration service team hosted its 2nd webinar of the H-B webinar series. This webinar provided an overview of the H-2B recruitment and certification phase and how to avoid pitfalls in the race for H-2B visa numbers.

On December 2022, our attorneys discussed the 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and the Inpatient and Outpatient Prospective Payment System rules, as well as recent case law and regulatory developments that will be important in the new year, including some considerations for the changing COVID-19 landscape. 

On December 13, the Fredrikson H-2 Immigration Service Team presented updated information on H-2A and H2B processes and program developments.
