On Thursday, June 29, 2023, Fredrikson attorneys, Steve Helland and Kara Lillehaug, were joined by Dr. Vanessa Rousseau, art historian and archaeologist for this event. This hybrid seminar presented a brief overview of the history of looting and the destruction of art and archaeology from antiquity to the present, the relationship of cultural property to human rights, as well as the challenges and potential solutions to this ongoing problem. We also explored a sampling of laws and cases related to looting and art crime.
