Overview
Clinics and health systems both must consider a variety of legal issues when compensating physicians.
- Stark limits the services for which a physician may receive compensation in both clinics and health systems.
- Health systems and non-profits must worry about fair market value-related issues.
- The anti-kickback statute and state laws affect physician compensation from outside entities like drug and device companies.
This session discussed key compensation related issues, describe common mistakes and misconceptions and describe shortcomings in many fair market value analyses, including problems with relying on salary surveys.
