Overview
We celebrated Valentine's Day by learning tips for handling audits and prevailing in appeals, including useful legal arguments for responding to overpayment allegations and how to streamline your appeal process. We also discussed how common mistakes in refund letters can inadvertently increase your liability. For example, we explained why you may wish to avoid using the word “overpayment” in the letter, and why you do NOT need to refund every time you find missing documentation or a missing signature.
Accreditation
We have applied for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit for this program in Iowa and Minnesota. Please contact Greta Larson at glarson@fredlaw.com if you are an attorney licensed in another state and would like information about obtaining CLE accreditation. We have also applied for Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) credits. Webinar participants will be notified of accreditation upon program approval of CLE and HCCA credits (typically three or four weeks following the webinar).
