Fredrikson & Byron attorney Soobin Kim has been chosen as a 2022 Fellow by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). The Fellow program was created by LCLD to identify, train and advance the next generation of diverse leaders in the legal profession. Designed for lawyers with eight to 15 years of experience, the program connects high-potential attorneys with leading general counsel and managing partners, and their peers for mentoring and career guidance.
As part of his core practice, Kim advises strategic investors and private equity clients on cross-border corporate and M&A transactions. Kim has a wealth of international experience, having spent a decade in Asia advising East Asian clients on multi-jurisdictional acquisitions and investments within the Asia Pacific region, as well in the United States and the EU.
Earlier this year, the LCLD named Fredrikson & Byron a 2021 Compass Award winner, which recognizes law firms and corporations showing a strong commitment to building a more diverse organization and a more inclusive legal profession.
To demonstrate the commitment of Fredrikson & Byron to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, shareholder and president John Koneck personally pledged support to the LCLD Fellows, Pathfinders and Scholars. The full public pledge can be found on the LCLD website.
LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr. said that while the LCLD Fellows program “requires a serious time commitment from its participants, they will come away from it having learned from top leaders in the legal profession, as well as experts in the fields of learning and development and executive coaching, on what it means to be a leader.”
Founded in 2009, LCLD has grown to an organization of more than 400 members, who serve as either general counsel of major corporations or managing partners of the nation’s leading law firms. United by a spirit of activism and personal commitment, LCLD members participate widely in the programs they have created—leading by example, taking action and challenging the legal profession to prepare future generations of diverse talent for the highest positions of leadership.
