For the ninth consecutive year, Fredrikson & Byron received national recognition for its status as one of the best U.S. law firms for female attorneys, according to two recently published Law360 surveys.
The Law360 Pulse Ceiling Smashers Report recognizes firms that are legal industry pacesetters in closing the gender gap in equity partnership. With women comprising 32.6 percent of its equity partners, Fredrikson & Byron ranked fifth nationwide among the firms in its headcount category (251-600 attorneys). The firm continues to be the top-ranked Minnesota-headquartered firm in this group.
Law firms have noted that having women in more senior roles and leadership roles, begets more progress. “We are proud to consistently achieve national recognition for our success in advancing and supporting women attorneys at the firm. For younger lawyers especially, representation is important. You want to see people who look like you being successful, building a practice, in leadership, having a place, and having a voice,” said Leigh-Erin Irons, a shareholder and member of Fredrikson’s Board of Directors.
The Law360 Pulse Glass Ceiling Report declares how law firms support women and what has been effective in attracting and retaining female talent. Fredrikson has also led the way among the Minnesota firms in the Glass Ceiling Report, placing among the top 10 U.S. firms with 251-600 attorneys. Law360 Pulse’s annual report reveals that women represent about 39 percent of attorneys and almost 24 percent of equity partners, nearly identical results to last year’s report.

About the Glass Ceiling Report – Law360’s annual law firm survey collected data from 295 U.S. firms, vereins with a U.S. component, or law firms with a substantial U.S. presence of at least 50 attorneys. Not all firms responded to all diversity questions. Of those firms that responded to our survey, 291 firms provided specific details on the diversity of their attorneys by headcount as of December 31, 2021, representing about 120,000 attorneys, including about 51,000 partners. Only U.S.-based attorneys were included in the survey, and firms had to have at least 20 U.S.-based attorneys to participate. Some attorneys declined to identify a race/ethnicity or gender.
