Fredrikson & Byron attorney Emily S. Pontius was named chair of the Labor and Employment Section Council of the Iowa State Bar Association and Bridget R. Penick was recently named a council member of the Labor and Employment Section Council. J. Marc Ward was recently named a council member of the Iowa State Bar Association’s Business Law Section.

Pontius defends employers against allegations of sex discrimination, age discrimination, race discrimination, FMLA and ADA violations, wrongful termination in violation of public policy, and tortious interference. She counsels employers in human resources policies and procedures, employment discrimination, FMLA, ADA, wage & hour, NLRA issues and union organization. She also assists employers with employment-related immigration issues.

Ward has extensive experience in working on banking, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. Ward chaired the committee that wrote the original LLC law in 1992 and chaired the committee that wrote the new Iowa LLC law in 2009.
