Fredrikson & Byron attorney Zhu “June” Cheng was named a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) 2021 class of Fellows, a landmark program that identifies, trains and advances the next generation of diverse leaders in the legal profession. Fredrikson attorney Aleida Ortega Conners was named a member of the LCLD 2021 class of Pathfinders, a program designed to train diverse, high-potential attorneys, with less than eight years of practice, in critical career development strategies.
In her practice, Cheng helps foreign investors and Chinese and American companies achieve global mobility, with the focus on U.S. employment-based and investment-based immigration. She also guides U.S. companies and multinational corporations through the complex and ever-changing immigration processes for their expatriate employees in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America.
Conners assists clients in executing domestic and cross-border merger, acquisition, divestiture, joint venture and equity investment transactions, including understanding and managing the legal risks associated with these transactions. She represents private and public companies in all types of business transactions, focusing her practice in the areas of venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate law. In connection with these activities, Conners also assists clients with commercial matters regarding supply, manufacturing, sales and distribution, and related agreements.
Founded in 2009, LCLD has grown to an organization of more than 350 members, who serve as either general counsel of major corporations or managing partners of the nation's leading law firms. United by a spirit of activism and personal commitment, LCLD members participate widely in the programs they have created—leading by example, taking action and challenging the legal profession to prepare future generations of diverse talent for the highest positions of leadership.
