The Minnesota Legal Services Coalition has honored both Fredrikson and Government Relations Group Senior Government Relations Specialist Andy G. Pomroy and attorney Kevin P. Goodno with the Pro Bono Publico Award for outstanding work in support of civil and legal services in the last two legislative sessions. Pomroy and Goodno accepted the award at the Legal Services State Conference Awards Dinner on November 7 in Brainerd, Minn.

The Minnesota Legal Services Coalition only gives the prestigious Pro Bono Publico Award every other year. The award honors an individual or organization that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to providing civil legal services to Minnesota's underserved communities. It celebrates impactful work that uplifts those facing socioeconomic challenges, advocating for justice and equity within the civil legal system.

Pomroy is an effective strategist and advocate who leads clients to success with the state legislature and other policy makers. A campaign, legislative, communications and government relations strategist, Pomroy utilizes creative analysis and innovative methods to move decision makers’ opinions and actions. He works to understand the motivations of legislators and works to connect his clients’ causes with their goals. He is experienced working with outside the Capitol campaigns as an increasingly important way to move legislation through grassroots, traditional media and other methods.

Goodno is a respected and experienced advocate, effectively representing clients on complex policy and political issues before state legislative, agency and executive branch decision makers. He serves as government relations counsel for clients in his areas of special expertise—health care, social services and tax policy—and also in a variety of other issue areas including capital bonding, commerce and business, government reform and efficiency, and procurement.

Recognized for excellence in his work as a lobbyist, commissioner of Minnesota’s largest state agency and state legislator, Goodno’s diverse background provides a unique blend of experiences and relationships that sets him apart from his peers. Most importantly, he works closely with his clients to understand each client’s legislative and business needs and short and long-term goals to make certain his representation embodies the client’s mission and broader goals. Respected for his hard work and integrity in managing difficult and challenging issues and situations, Goodno has developed strong working relationships with legislators, executive branch officials, agency personnel and various stakeholder groups.

State Support is a longstanding project of the Minnesota Legal Services Coalition, an association of Minnesota’s regional legal aid programs that include Anishinabe Legal Services, Central Minnesota Legal Services, Justice North, Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota, Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid and Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services. State Support works to improve understanding and access to the civil legal justice system for all Minnesotans by leveraging technology to provide legal information, referrals and tools. State Support also serves to strengthen the civil legal aid advocate community with system-wide technology support and continuing legal education.
