Overview

Save the date for Fredrikson’s 16th annual Minnesota Legislative Session Outlook event! As we look to 2025, Minnesota's political landscape has shifted considerably. Following a recent special election, the Minnesota Senate remains narrowly controlled by Democrats with a one-vote majority (34-33), while the Minnesota House of Representatives now stands evenly split at 67-67 between Democrats and Republicans. This, combined with a potential budget deficit and Governor Tim Walz returning from an unsuccessful vice-presidential bid, sets the stage for a challenging session in a budget year.

Will the evenly divided House and tight Senate majority lead to greater negotiation and compromise, or will partisanship create new hurdles?

Join us on Tuesday, December 10 from 9-10:30 a.m. for a virtual panel moderated by Nisha Botchwey, Dean of the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Leaders from all four caucuses will offer insights on the legislative priorities and dynamics that will define the 2025 session.
