Starting on June 8, 2022, Minnesotans who worked on the frontlines during the COVID-19 peacetime emergency can now apply for “Hero Pay” available through the state’s Frontline Worker Pay Program.
Applications will be accepted through July 22, 2022. These online-only submissions work best on Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Internet Explorer is not supported.
As a reminder, employers of eligible employees are required to notify employees of their eligibility to apply no later than June 23, 2022, by at least (1) posting the required notice in all facilities where eligible employees work and (2) providing the same notice to employees in paper or electronic form. The notice can be found here in multiple languages. When considering the employees to notify, employers should note that Minnesota residency is not required for eligibility; however, the applicant must have been employed for at least 120 hours within Minnesota between March 15, 2020 and June 30, 2021 and meet all other eligibility criteria.
The MN Department of Labor and Industry has also provided FAQs, which employers may want to review or provide to employees to help answer questions.
